Ruler of Sharjah inaugurates Stock Market Training program in the University of Sharjah

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah; President and Founder of the University of Sharjah, inaugurated the Stock Exchange Training programme at the University of Sharjah, which was established by the Securities and Commodities Authority according to the memorandum of agreement signed with the University of Sharjah in cooperation with Dubai Financial Market and Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange.
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated the stock exchange hall and briefed on the various components and mechanisms, and listened to a detailed explanation about the stock exchange training programme followed by a visit of the study rooms.
His Excellency Prof. Dr. Sami Mahmoud, Director of the University of Sharjah stated that the implementation of the stock exchange training program is a scientific and practical accomplishment and the University of Sharjah counts as one of the few universities offering a stock exchange training. Under the directives of His Highness, the University of Sharjah develops on a frequent basis and aims to strengthen its position between universities on the local, regional and global scale. His Excellency Prof. Dr. Sami Mahmoud concluded his speech with gratitude to the Securities and Commodities Authority for providing the stock exchange training program at the University of Sharjah.
His Excellency Abdullah Tarifi, CEO of the Securities and Commodities Authority expressed his gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah; Founder and President of the University of Sharjah, to provide all necessary equipment and support the educational process at the University of Sharjah.
His Excellency Abdullah Tarifi explained, that the stock exchange training programme provided by His Highness is a new educational project. Students can practice through courses the application of the stock exchange concept, its rules and processes.The curriculum comprises assessments and market making methods, especially financial and economic.
Furthermore His Excellency Abdullah Tarifi pointed out that the stock exchange simulation familiarises students with prices and the functionality of assets traded in the stock market in order to train a quick decision process during projects and case studies on securities investment. Furthermore it enables Professors as supervisors to evaluate the students’ performance by comparing them to actual stock brokers and real time prices within the stock market of the region. Tarifi noted that the project is one of the leading ideas in this area on a regional level, and it comes in the framework of the continuous cooperation between the Authority and the University of Sharjah.
Prof. Dr. Hussein Al-Tamimi, Professor of Finance at University of Sharjah, and Head of the Stock Exchange Training programme Committee – University of Sharjah stated that within the university policy, the Faculty of Business Administration is dedicated to the continuous development of academic programmes. The Department of Finance and Economy are modern facilities, implementing the latest methods and techniques from the financial market. The stock exchange training programme is brought to life with the aim to train Business Administration students.
Prof. Dr. Hussein Al-Tamimi said in addition, that the training centre lists market prices and monitors the performance of companies for the benefit of Business Administration students and the faculty. The professor completed his speech by highlighting the great support of the Securities and Commodities Authority and the continuous technical support of the Dubai Financial Market.
