Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment (DEPE) shared Dubai events and festivals milestones and exchanged best practices with a delegation from China, during The Chinese Visitor Summit, held September 5-6 at The Meydan Hotel. The delegation, consisting of more than 75 retail, travel and tourism experts, were introduced to the full spectrum of DEPE’s initiatives that have contributed to positioning Dubai as a leading travel destination in international markets. DEPE presented case studies highlighting the unparalleled success of Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF), Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS), Ramadan in Dubai, Eid in Dubai and Modhesh World. In addition, DEPE introduced Dubai Calendar, the official annual listing of events taking place across the Emirate of Dubai and a multi-faceted vehicle to promote Dubai’s strengths as the region’s leading events destination, build its events sector, and support the city’s economy. During the meeting, DEPE announced that the Mandarin version of Dubai Calendar is being planned.

Faisal Lutfi, Senior Manager Dubai Calendar Development, said: “China is a strategic market for Dubai and over the past few years, Dubai has witnessed a significant boom in Chinese tourists. Our meeting with the Chinese delegation presented a great opportunity for the Establishment to showcase the strength and success of Dubai’s events sector while highlighting the range of world-class events and festivals on offer across the Emirate. Furthermore, by introducing Dubai Calendar to the right travel experts, Chinese travelers can now plan their visits to Dubai to coincide with major events in the city.”

“With more than 450 events listed annually, Dubai Calendar has been the gateway to a more eventful Dubai since its inception in 2011. Dubai Calendar works closely with strategic partners to promote their events as well as play a key consultancy role by advising event organisers on suitable times and dates to organise events, maximise on revenue and engage in open strands of dialogue for the growth and the development of the sector,” added Lutfi. Featured on Dubai Calendar, Dubai’s iconic events and festivals include DSF, DSS, Ramadan in Dubai, Eid in Dubai, Modhesh World, the Dubai World Cup, the Duty Free Tennis Championship, the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, the Golf Mena Tour, Layali Dubai, Dubai International Jazz Festival, Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens, Dubai International Film Festival, Dubai Air Show, Dubai Boat Show and Gitex Technology Week.
